Our Story

King of Kings Lutheran Church of San Antonio, Texas was established March 18, 1975.   The LCMS Church Extension Fund owned some land on Dreamwood Drive, off Nacogdoches for the new church campus.   At first the people worshipped in a shopping center, moved to the present Education building, and then built the present church in 1885.   Rev. Henry Biar was installed on January 19, 1975 and remained Senior Pastor until 2005. The Day Care Center opened on August 18, 1976.  Pastor Jeffrey Doria and family came in 2003 and was installed as our Senior Pastor in 2005.   Pastor Neldo Schmidt followed Pastor Doria in 2017.

We at King of Kings Lutheran Church offer for our members and community an 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. service each Sunday, with communion on the first, third and fifth Sundays. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m. During Advent and Lent Wednesday evening services are held as well as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday evening services.

May the Lord continue to make His face shine upon us and keep us in His Word. May our future be as full of His blessings as has these last years. “A church can ask for no greater blessing than a congregation full of faith and pastors true to the Word. Such has been the case with King of Kings from our first worship service on El Sendero to today. This congregation has sought to do the Lord’s will and the result has been blessings too numerous to count. May we never forget that it was the love of God and able shepherding that has brought us to this place.” To God be the glory!
